ESQUINA is a RTW womenswear brand based in Argentina and France. The brand values the use of traditional Argentinean materials and techniques and also collaborates with local artisans and indigenous communities, such as Jeronimo Coll who produces genuine Neo-Criollo jewels from discarded leather and Valentin De Marco a queer artist who rethinks the traditional gaucho use of silver. The Argentine artisanal and artistic heritage, both material and symbolic, intersects and deconstructs urbanism and popular culture in a kitsch, dreamlike, and humorous note. Meetings of dissimilar noble materials made in Italy with rustic untreated leather which invert high and low.
After being incubated by the Institut Francais de la Mode in Paris, Josefina Roveta launched the brand as a French house and later relocated it to Buenos Aires where their HQ and boutique is located in the landmark historical Palacio Devoto. The brand has participated in Paris Fashion Week the past three years and developed a capsule collection with Sofia Sanchez de Betak, distributed in Bergdorf Goodman, The Webster, Matches, and Colette.
